First Love

Lonely objects stacked together

Yet so far apart

Set against the back drop

of everlasting night

Feeling betrayed by our own desires

Giving way to endless fires

A light inside flickers constantly

Dangling over a tarp of flammables — dead leaves

so many different shades of brown soot the earth

As my heart collapses in on itself

I see but I can’t comprehend

Feelings of lust

The color of blood

running hot — like the river Styx

bridging two worlds —

from beginning to end

Beyond an energy

a new way of loving

Just out of grasp

Wrong to some

But so close to my heart
